LITTLE PEOPLE OF AMERICA
District 2 - Islanders Chapter
The Long Island Chapter of LPA covers Nassau and Suffolk counties. We are the local group for our members; you become an active member by being a current member of the National Organization.
Our local chapter plans local events throughout the year for LP’s and their families. We plan and attend outreach programs to educate others about dwarfism. We support members by sharing medical, social, and educational information with each other. We also support athletic events to foster physical fitness and provide competition for all age LP’s.
The local chapter runs only with the volunteers from within our membership, their friends and families. Please help us stay strong for current and future LP members by participating and giving your time and energy.
The Islanders Chapter is proud of our long history within LPA as one of the most active chapters nationally. Recently we hosted the District 2 Regional’s in spring 2007 and 2011. We are also proud of planning and running the 2009 National Convention in Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott. It was one of the highest attended conventions in the 50 plus years of LPA. It was the first time ever that the conference was ever in New York.
We are proud Long Islanders and always welcome LP’s that are from other areas or non members to our events.
